old oak.

The first of the Coup De Génie projects made in conjunction with French friends of Whole Bunch Wines, watch this space.

DOMAINE DENIS BACHELET - GEVREY CHAMBERTIN

AUSTRALIA WIDE
Whole Bunch Wines are bringing these fabulous burgundies back to Australia.

With cult like status across the world these wines are produced in tiny quantites and Denis Bachelet’s name is whispered in the same breath as Armand Rousseau when it comes to Gevrey Chambertin. Unfortunately there is only allocation available.

DOMAINE OLIVIER MAERLIN - MÂCONNAIS, FRANCE

AUSTRALIA WIDE

Olivier and Corinne Merlin are skilled wine-makers who have always believed in the potential of their Mâconnais terroirs. Olivier Merlin had his first experience of the world of wine in 1977 when he took part in the grape harvest on a Mâconnais domaine. The ambiance and the family spirit he found there were the impulse which turned him towards a career in wine-growing. Living in the village of La Roche-Vineuse at the foot of the rocky outcrops of the Mâconnais, Olivier and Corinne Merlin are passionately devoted to their craft and to the terroirs of the Mâconnais and Beaujolais from which they make their wines.

SARNIN BERRUX - SAINT ROMAIN

AUSTRALIA WIDE
Whole Bunch Wines are excited to have the first allocation of these wines for Australia. A favourite of all the top bistros in Paris, the Sarnin Berrux wines are made from organic and biodynamic grapes sourced from throughout the Cote d’Or. (+ a cheeky syrah from the Ardèche!)

Jean-Pascal Sarnin, (a former stockbroker) and Jean-Marie Berrux started the winery in 2007 after sharing the passion for minimal intervention or ‘natural’ burgundies. Using no fining, filtration and only trace amounts of sulphur pre bottling these wines are alive, expressive and ooze pure drinkability. GET SOME!

RITA & RUDOLF TROSSEN - KINHEIM-KINDEL, MIDDLE MOSEL

AUSTRALIA WIDE
First time these rare and exciting wines have been seen in Australia. A favourite of the top sommeliers in Copenhagen and alike (we first encountered them at Noma) they are unadulterated, pure & complex. The Purus range is a no sulpur style inspired by the great wines of the Jura. Rudolf Trossen founded Demeter and EcoVin in Rheinland Pfalz and has been biodynamically farming since 1978. Known as a bit of a Eco-warrior his vines are in the middle Mosel above a tiny town called Kinheim. Rudi’s vines are easy to see from the bottom the slopes being so vibrant green and healthy!

AZIENDA AGRICOLA CRASA ‘SRC’ - MT ETNA

AUSTRALIA WIDE

SRC roughly translates to “Here We Are” In Italian, which is a play on words being an acronym and also the initials of the family members; Sandra, Rori and Cinzia. The winery is all naturally worked with sheep maintaining the weeds. Low to no sulfur used throughout the winemaking process.
Despite the few vintages produced the wines are already showing maturity and plenty of compelxity and with Frank Cornelissen as his mentor we see these wines going far.

I VERONI - TUSCANY

AUSTRALIA WIDE
I Veroni is derived from the wide terraces surrounding the farm where many years ago tobacco leaf and grain was dried. The estate has been family run since 1897. The vineyards were re-planted in 1998 with the conversion to organic viticulture completed by 2013, with certification.
Specialising in Chianti Rufina these wines show the true Tuscan character in a traditional way.
